Our History
A History of Satisfying Knowledgeable Boaters
Located on the coast of Maine, General
Marine has focused on meeting
the needs of experienced boaters. Seasoned pleasure
boaters and commercial fisherman alike have come to
appreciate the proven design, quality
materials, and workmanship that goes into every
General Marine boat. We have been accused of overbuilding
our boats at General Marine, but our goal has never
been to build the lowest cost vessel. Instead our
mission is to provide lasting value that endures long
after the initial commissioning.
Founded over two decades ago,
General Marine has built a solid reputation and a loyal following.

Some other builders
have come and gone, but General Marine has steadily
grown over the years based on the word of mouth recommendations
of satisfied owners. While we have been producing
one boat at a time, the fleet has accumulated over 300 boat years on the water. And that experience
has led to a continual refinement of form and function
both above and below the waterline.
The in-house designed fleet ranges
in size from the 20' skiff up to the 26' Downeast
Cruisers. We also custom
finish boats in the 31-38
foot range. The 26' Downeast Cruisers are a second-generation
design. They share the proven sea keeping abilities
of the first generation, while providing additional
accommodations and molded
interiors. The molded interiors
bring high quality, durable, and easy
care finishes to the cabins, a level of refinement more often reserved
for larger "Yachts".
Come
see us soon so that we can show
you the General Marine difference.
